Business advice
  • Find your niche. Don’t try to be all things to all people! When you pick one thing to focus on, that’s when you stand out most and will be most successful.
Nutrition advice
  • We are not all completely different. We share so much in common as human beings. We have much more in common than we do different. This is why foundations are key! After the basic foundations, then we focus on bio-individuality.
  • Dairy testing on a Ketogenic diet. Get tested to make sure you are not reactive to any dairy proteins before eating dairy on Keto.
  • Ancestral wisdom. Honoring Weston A. Price and the research he did with the commonalities between different groups of healthy people. His studies showed those who consumed a diet a.) rich in animal-sourced foods and b.) high in fat-soluble nutrients were more healthy.

Remembering Dana Brown: Our cherished instructor and friend

Each day we are given the opportunity to have an impact on the world, to make the most of each moment, and to pursue our passions without reservation—yet very few of us truly take advantage of the potential every new morning offers. Dana Brown, one of our Lead Instructors, was the exception. She embraced the magnitude of all that one day can mean. After battling ovarian cancer that surgeons could not remove, Dana realized that her time on this earth was limited—and the way she chose to spend each minute of her day mattered more than it ever had before. She could have spent her remaining time surfing, woodworking, crafting pottery, taking photographs, digging into her favorite scientific research, or immersing herself in the beauty of her home state of New Mexico. She could have chosen to relax with her wife Janet, their dog Callahan, and her parents to soak up every last second. Yet, of all the ways she could have spent her last days on earth—she desired nothing more than to meet her students and teach them one last time. That is how much she loved her students and how dedicated she was to bringing healing to the world. After embracing her students and completing one last workshop day, Dana met her family at a hospice center and passed away peacefully—fulfilled and deeply satisfied with her last moments here. While her passing leaves a tremendous hole in our hearts and we are all grieving this loss, we want to be sure we don’t miss the last lesson Dana wanted to teach us. It was not about the health of the body, but rather the power of a nourished soul. Be passionate. Build community. Create freely. Live fully. And love selflessly. This is how she lived, this is how she died, and this is how we can honor her legacy. We send our deepest condolences to Dana’s family and her wife Janet. If you have thoughts, memories or condolences you’d like to share on behalf of Dana Brown, please send them here and we’ll direct them to Dana’s family.

Watch: Why We Need to Defend Good Meat

WATCH DIANA RODGERS, RD, LDN, NTP DISCUSS HER UPCOMING DOCUMENTARY, KALE VS. COW: THE CASE FOR BETTER MEAT

Diana’s Documentary Kale vs. Cow: The Case for Better Meat is now in production! Stay up to date on the progress.

IN THIS INTERVIEW WITH DIANA RODGERS, WE DISCUSS:

-The ideal way to buy meat is straight from the farmer. If you’re unable to access a local farmer, the next best option is to order from companies like ButcherBox, Thrive Market, US Wellness Meats or other companies who sell ethically raised animal meats. -In the health industry, there is an argument that chicken is healthier than beef or red meat, which is incorrect. Not only are cows more sustainable than chicken (1 steer=500 lb of meat and raised off of grass and some grain vs 1 chicken= less meat, worse living conditions and fed 100% grain), beef is also more nutrient-dense. Beef contains iron and B12 which are two of the world’s highest nutrient deficiencies and contains higher ratios of Omega 3’s. -Living off vegetables only is not as sustainable as eating animal meats. Most of America is croppable, but that is not true for around the world. The best scenario is to crop where it is available and raise pastured animals (that consume grass) on the rest of the land.
