Faces of the NTA: Meet Kelsey McReynolds
Get to know Kelsey
How long have you worked for the NTA? What is your role?
I started working for the NTA in February of 2018. I began in admissions and am now our Marketing Coordinator.
What attracted you to work at the NTA?
The authenticity and devotion to holistic nutrition.
What do you love about working for the NTA?
I appreciate that we are who we say we are. I love that my team is a bunch of kickass people who inspire me on a daily basis. I also love the way the NTA functions. I’ve never felt more encouraged to follow my passions and giftings than at the NTA.
What are you most proud about accomplishing in your time at the NTA to date?
I am so proud that we all work together to complete the bigger vision. My favorite thing to bring to the table is innovation and tools to bring about efficiency. I was excited to bring some of that to our Admissions team to help lighten their load and also to expand that into our marketing department. Currently, I’m mad proud that we’re beginning to develop our blog into a greater resource for holistic nutrition. Not just for our grads but for all in the health and wellness community.
Describe the NTA in three words?
Growth, Bio-individual, Authentic
Describe yourself in three words
Loyal, Creative, Kind
What do you love the most about our community?
Bio-individuality. I appreciate that everything is not a one-size-fits-all. Coming from a background of disordered eating, I needed a community that embraced each persons unique needs. Sometimes I need to eat a plate of veggies and sometimes I just need to eat some chocolate, and that’s okay.
What is your favorite fat?
Avocados and grass-fed butter.
What is your least favorite food?
I really don’t have any. I love pretty much every food. I guess I don’t really like Thanksgiving stuffing?
What’s your most used cook book or recipe blog and why?
My side hustle enables me to be a freelance recipe developer and food photographer so I will shamelessly plug some of my work on Autoimmune Wellness. Check out my AIP Chicken and Dumplings Recipe. I absolutely love the style of The Forest Feast Gathering by Erin Gleason I’m not a vegetarian but I just love the idea of outdoor eating and utilizing a ton of veggies.
What are you reading (or listening to) right now?
Beyond the Pill by Dr. Jolene Brighten her wisdom is profound and she gives you so much insight into why you could be feeling the way you’re feeling after having used hormonal birth control. I’m also “listening” to my band Hopkins Switch. We’re an Americana/Blues band from Olympia, WA. Our music can be found on Spotify, iTunes, and YouTube.
In your mind, what are the biggest challenges the holistic health community faces?
I think that we need to not be afraid to stand up for what we believe and to have the science to back it. We live in a world that wants to deduce health to a one-size-fits-all food pyramid. We are constantly being scrutinized in our friends, family, and professional circles as being crazy for our views on nourishment. It’s important to not lose heart and to continue to speak our truth respectfully and with validity!
